Bolton Lads and Girls Club 0 – 1 Ladybridge Athletic kick off 10.00 am Saturday December 2nd
We would all like to welcome Adam Haydock to our team who has made the switch from our local Rivals Ladybridge Storm. He started on the sideline today along with Will J.
Today’s game was what you might call a very hard fought result. The lads where forever being thwarted by the opposing goalie, (seems to be a reoccurring subject that). It’s as if all goalies up their game when they play us.
The pitch today seemed long and narrow which did not suit our lads. The lads went about their game as usual in a very attacking way and it was not long before Nathan was terrorising the defence with his runs and usual left foot right foot trick. Alex S was producing shot after shot on goal as was Nathan and Joe. Al went very close three times in the first half, one of which left a very nice ball mark on a car window behind the goal.
Jake was his ever usual self in the middle of the park (dogged and determined) With Will and Al being as solid as ever at the back. Sorry to say again but Tom was a spectactator most of the match again as the lads in front of him never gave the opposition a sniff. The breakthrough came when Nathan again terrorized the defence and put a good ball into the box for Alex S to shoot and follow up his shot for what was a scrambled goal but a very well deserved goal .
1 – 0.
Finally we were in front. Adam joined the game then in place of Nathan which meant Al going to the left of midfield with Ads at the back at the side of Will. It didn’t take long for Ads to get into the game and he looked as if he had been with us since the beginning. He will be a good addition to the side as it now gives Phil and Jon the opportunity to change the defence as well as midfield and attack.
Half Time 1 – 0
In the second half Will J was introduced for Will which meant another reshuffle, but it didn’t make any difference to the team as they all took it in their stride. The lads where firing superb balls into the box for Nathan and Alex S but they just couldn’t get that second goal they deserved .Joe went close direct of a corner again (he seems to be good at that) and Jake also went close with a long range effort.
Another corner came in from Joe that was layed on by Nathan to Al who with a cheeky back flick went close again. Off came Alex S and back on came Will with wait for it Al playing centre forward. He was like a fish out of water and it wasn’t long before the management team realised it and reverted him back to the left with Will J going C/F. the lads were strolling through the game as L & G club where chasing shadows, then right in the last minute one of their forwards broke clean through on goal, one on one with Tom and the was only going to be one outcome.
Tom saved the day for the lads. It was the only save all game he had to make and he didn’t let anyone down.
Full Time 1 – 0
Well done again lads for playing out of your skins, and really earning this deserved win against a dogged opposition.
Well done to Nathan for getting the Man of the Match award for a performance that showed he is now really settling into the team and gaining confidence as each week goes by.
Ladybridge Athletic 11- 1 Bromley Cross Jets kick off 11.00 am Saturday December 9thCup Match
Today’s game was a one sided contest the minute Alex S got the first goal. It was a stroll in the park for Athletic against a side that was no match for the quality of football our lads play.
